These Running Gloves Help Keep You Warm and Safe and They’re Touch-Screen Compatible
Nathan Reflective Running Gloves are designed to help keep your hands warm and to minimize the need for glove removal thanks to their touch screen tips, a chamois patch, and mini stash pockets.
I strongly recommend these insulated running gloves from Nathan because they are lightweight and highly flexible but warm enough for use well down into 30-degree weather, and because of the multiple design elements that they offer over other ostensibly similar gloves.
The glove is hardly a new construct; people have been wearing them for thousands of years, and the design is still basically the same – namely, a material that’s crafted into hand shape that keeps hands warmer when it’s cold out. And in fact, the lightweight insulated running glove is hardly all that new, either. People have been wearing gloves that feel much like this pair from Nathan for decades.
If all these gloves did was fulfill their prime directive of keeping my hands warm while I jog, hike, or bike on cold days, I’d appreciate them, but I’d not be writing about them. As I am, I’ll tell you that they are indeed lightweight, very flexible, and warm enough for use down to around 35 degrees without the need for any additional layering on my hands, especially once my body temperature starts to rise. They have a soft lining, a stretchy spandex exterior, and textured stitching on the palms and fingers that help with grip.
And that’s all well and good, but here’s where they get pretty great – the extras.
On the thumb and index fingers, patches of “TruTouch” fabric allow you to use a touchscreen device without the need to remove the gloves, which is clutch in frosty temps. On the back of the thumbs are patches of highly absorbent chamois material which can be used to wipe sweat or, well, snot, which is gross, but if you exercise in the cold, you get it, it’s a nice touch.
The sides of the fingers feature bright, high-visibility yellow fabric, while on their backs a highly reflective silvery patterns catches light and shines brightly in the dark, helping make you more visible to nearby vehicles. Which is well appreciated in low light conditions.
So gloves that keep you warm without weighing you down or limiting motion or dexterity, that allow for use of technology, that can wipe that nose, and that help keep you visible and safe – what more could you ask for? Tiny little pockets, you say? Well, it has those, too.
On the back of each glove, you’ll find a stretchy little pocket that’s the perfect size for a key fob for your car, an actual key for your house, a rolled-up bit of cash, or even a little energy cube snack whatnot. If you’re wondering if these gloves were designed not only for but also by people who legitimately run and ride in the cold, you can stop wondering now. They were.
