As one of the larger state parks in the Midatlantic, it boasts great trails, a fishing pond, and beautiful vistas

  • Sky Meadows State Park boasts beautiful vistas, many trails for all levels, and it’s a Dark Sky park which means it has beautiful stargazing

  • And after that hike, head to historic Middleburg and enjoy great food at King Street Oyster Bar

Top Tips for Family Fun Outdoors

Be flexible! Challenge your kids a bit—they have crazy amounts of energy and might just be bored if they slow down on a hike. Have a goal in mind and be very upfront with the family about it — “we will reach point X, turn around, come back to the car, then have lunch and ice cream.” And follow through on the promise!
